The number one reason I want to lose weight is to be able to buy clothes that fit. I have a terrible time buying clothes when I have even a little extra fat on me because I am so short. Any pants always end up being about a foot too long with an extra six to eight inches in the waist if I want to get them over my big fat hips. I don't have a specific size that I am targetting, my goal is simply to fit into some old jeans that I saved; when I could wear those jeans it was much easier for me to buy clothes. Now I really have to buy capris if I want to have any hope of my pants fitting me. I refuse to wear elastic waistbands, by the way. I suppose that would be one solution to my little waist-to-hip-ratio-dilemma, but it's a path I refuse to go down.
In terms of weight, my goal there is also a little bit hazy. I am 4'11", and I currently weigh 130.5 pounds. I know that may not sound like much to a lot of people, but it puts me at 26.4 BMI, or well into the overweight range. I think I would like to weigh 110, but if I get that small and my pants still don't fit I will need to lose a little bit more. When I was at my thinnest and clothes were easy to buy, I didn't own a scale, so I really don't know how much I weighed then. I estimate I was 104, but who knows?
Interested in your BMI? Here's a link to the CDC BMI calculator...
http://www.cdc.gov/healthyweight/assessing/bmi/adult_bmi/english_bmi_calculator/bmi_calculator.html
It says a healthy weight for my 4'11" frame is 92 to 123. So I guess I could lose seven pounds and have a healthy BMI, but I know I still wouldn't be able to find pants that fit, so that's why I don't use that as my determinor.
Anyway, enough about me. Why do you want to lose weight? :)

What is "Just Right"?
Dear friends and family,
I've been thinking for a while about starting a "diet website" where any of us who are trying to change our eating habits (whether for health, weight, or appearance reasons) can talk to and support each other in our efforts to make change. Since I'm already familiar with blogger and do not have time to mess around with learning a new program, I decided to do a diet blog instead.
I'm naming my blog "Just Right" after the Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Remember how Goldilocks tried Papa Bear's cereal and it was too hot, tried Baby Bear's cereal and it was too cold, and tried Mama Bear's cereal and it was just right? Well I've tried extreme diets before and they were always too hot or too cold, so this time I'm going to try to get things just right, and let my body do the rest.
My diet plan is to set two-week goals. I'm planning to give myself two weeks to master each new phase of converting my diet to a healthier lifestyle, so every two weeks I will hopefully have mastered one weakness and will be ready to master another.
My first two-week goal is to eat five fruits and vegetables a day. I won't bore you with hourly updates on how I'm doing, but I may cry to you when I am struggling to keep up with it!
If you are interested in joining me and my blog, whatever your diet plan or health goal is, send me an e-mail and I will add you as an administrator to this blog so that you can add your own posts.
